A.) The term “gadget” or “widget” is interchangeable and is simply portable chunks of the Web that can be easily embedded into a webpage or blog and adds some content that is not static. Q.) Do I have to download any software to install a gadget?
A.) No, all widgets can be post withed out the use of any type of software. To grab one, simply click on the “get widget” button beneath the gadget and copy the code, paste it into you website page or blog, and you are done. See our How to Grab a Gadget page for more information.
Q.) How can I delete a widget I no longer want?
A.) To delete a widget you no longer want, you can simply delete the code from your site or blog.
Q.) I’d like to use a particular gadget but I cannot find it, can you help?
A.) We will do our best to accommodate you. If you would like us to search for a widget you don’t see, contact us we’ll try to find it for you. If we can’t find it, we’ll try to build one for you.
Q.) What types of browsers are needed to support these widgets?
A.) Generally, your best bet is newer versions of Internet Explorer, FireFox or Safari. Depending upon who built the application, some widgets may work properly in some browsers but not in others. Each gadget has been developed differently so it is a case by case scenario.
Q.) Is there any financial cost to me for installation or my users with interacting with a gadget?
A.) No, all widgets posted on our site are available free of charge to post and your users are free to interact with them.
Q.) Do I have to sign up for an account to post and use widgets?
A.) No, we do not ask our visitors to sign up for an account. Simply copy the code from the gadget, paste the code into your code and you are ready to go.
Q.) Do I have to worry about any malicious code or viruses in any of these widgets?
A.) Sadly, computer viruses are apart of the Internet and until people find more productive uses of their time, web viruses are a reality. While we strive to bring you the most popular gadgets, we unfortunately cannot guarantee 100% that any type of widget we post to our site is “virus free.” We can tell you that many of the gadgets we post are created directly from reputable businesses in the market place and we certainly are NOT in the business of infecting computers from the widgets we create. From the widgets that we post from other developers, we generally choose those that are highly popular at the time we posted them. This means that we generally choose gadgets that have been used by numerous people, cutting down the risk factor of any sort of infected gadgets. Many anti-virus and malware software packages can help protect you computer, so if you aren’t using one for your general web use we highly suggest using one if you are adding the widgets we post to our site. Q.) I’m having trouble with the gadget working properly, can you fix it?
A.) If you are having issues with an installed widget, let us know about it and we’ll do our best to fix if it is one that we have built. If it is one that someone else built, we’ll try our best to contact the owner to get the problem corrected. A.) Please know that all product or service related issues should be dealt directly with the merchant. Any merchant gadget we post interacts directly with the merchant’s website, which can include price structure, inventory levels and shipping.
